How to install VDSL on a telephone line
I want to install the modem close to the NTP
1. Make sure NTP 2007 is installed at the entry point in your house/apartment.
2. In case you are going to use your VDSL together with a fixed telephone line from Proximus, you have to split the VDSL signal and the telephone signal so that they do not interfere with each other. For this purpose, you need to install a VDSL2-splitter on all your phone sockets.
NOTE! Make sure the switches on your VDSL splitter are in the upper position. |
NOTE! If you live in a new building, it is possible that there is a plug on your NTP. In this case, remove the plug first and then replace it with a VDSL2-splitter. |
3. Connect your modem/router to the splitter with a DSL/internet cable.
- Insert the cable into the DSL/WAN port on the modem/router.
- Insert the free end of the cable into the DSL port on the splitter.
4. Connect the power supply unit of your modem/router to the port on your modem/router labeled “POWER” or “PWR”.
5. Plug the other end of the power supply into an AC power outlet.
6. Check if the DSL LED starts flashing.
NOTE! In case your VDSL signal is already activated, after some minutes the DSL LED should become stable. It means your modem/router is now receiving the VDSL signal. |
I want to install the modem on another phone socket
1. Make sure NTP 2007 is installed at the entry point in your house/apartment.
2. Connect your other phone socket (it should be TF2007 as well) to the blue connector inside the NTP by means of a separate cable used only for a modem/router connection. This is an ordinary phone cable (a VVT-cable or a less preferable UTP-cable) that can be bought at any electrical shop.
3. Install a VDSL2-splitter on all your phone sockets including the NTP.
NOTE! Make sure the switches on your VDSL splitter are in the upper position. |
4. Connect your modem/router to the splitter with a DSL/internet cable.
- Insert the cable into the DSL/WAN port on the modem/router.
- Insert the free end of the cable into the DSL port on the splitter.
5. Connect the power supply unit of your modem/router to the port on your modem/router labeled “POWER” or “PWR”.

6. Plug the other end of the power supply into an AC power outlet.
7. Check if the DSL LED starts flashing.
NOTE! In case your VDSL signal is already activated, after some minutes the DSL LED should become stable. It means your modem/router is now receiving the VDSL signal. |
